Arizona Build Your Community Network Webinar
Arizona’s Build Your Community Network (BYCN) Webinar is
a one day, solution based, results oriented dialogue, that will build
upon Arizona’s successful White House Conference on Faith Based and
Community Based Initiatives held in May 2007. The Arizona project will
focus on building relationships to promote “work readiness” and
enabling under prepared workers to acquire appropriate competitive
skills. Using local Arizona examples of successful relationships
already existing between the Local Workforce Investment Areas (LWIAs)
and faith and community based organizations (FBCOs), the BYCN program
will demonstrate how these successful relationships came to be and the
“work readiness” advantages they have provided to the vulnerable
populations in their areas.
To engage as many new FBCOs in each
LWIA, the State will conduct a statewide webinar using the video
conferencing services of the Arizona Department of Commerce. The
webinar will be videoed in Phoenix and simulcast throughout the state,
including 11 counties. This will ensure that as many organizations and
businesses (public, private and non profit) can attend and allow for
more participation at the local level as travel will be within their
own county.
There will be 4 segments to the broadcast program:
Panel: Relationship Building
Randy Reynolds, Founder and Executive Director of Community Renewal
Larry Munguia, Pastor, SOBER Project
Libby Wright, The Giving Tree
Trina Jenkins and Janis Mueller, Maricopa Workforce Connections

One-Stop Career Center Reception/Tour
Either
before or after the webinar, your local workforce area will provide a
tour of the local One-Stop Career Center, explain the resources
available, and encourage the FBCO’s to consider how these resources can
benefit the populations they serve. At the same time, a planning
session will be held to develop a strategy(ies) for the local areas and
FBCOs to work together for the benefit of Arizonans becoming
self-sufficient.
